Skagafjörður is a historically famous area in Iceland and the
natural beauty ensures all travellers find something to see or do to
please them, like river rafting, golf, nice hiking trails, a collection
of small museums, fishing, etc.
The following days you will enjoy the privacy of your own cottage with
access to a natural hot tub. Daily riding tours are on the schedule and
even for beginners this is an ideal way to get in touch with horses.
We would like espacially to encourage unexperienced riders to this tour. In case
you feel after the second day the horses and riding is not really your favourite
sport, you are invited to join some other activities, as for excample riverrafting.

Day 1
We will meet you around noon in Varmahlíð in
Skagafjörður at the busstation, at the airport in
Sauðárkrókur or you meet us (if you travel in a rental car)
in our office in Varmahlíð. You move in your private cottage for
the next days and settle down.
In the afternoon we do the first trip on horseback, just to get a first
impression of the Icelandic Horse and it´s movements.
Day 2
Today is a 3-hour riding tour on our programme. We ride along the
riverbanks of Húseyarkvísl to the competition area
Vindheimamelar and furtheron to the beautiful waterfall Reykjafoss.
The rest of the day you may use for some private excursions and we are happy
to assist you and make some suggestions.
Day 3
Our todays destination is the folkmuseum Glaumbær, a grand old farm,
turned into a folk museum. There you will also find the burial grounds of
Snorri Þorfinnsson, the first white man born on the American continent.
The old farm and the surrounding houses will not only give the visitor an
excellent view of how Icelanders built their houses, but it will also provide
a window into the lives of past generations.
We will leave our horses next to Glaumbær today and go by car back to
our home.
Day 4
In the morning we have a shuttle to our horses. We saddle up a last time
today to ride them back to their home in Varmahlíð. After the ride
will for sure enjoy a last bath in the hot tub. You spend the last night in your "Home at Hestasport".
Day 5
Now it is time to say good bye. You have to leave this private paradise.
We are happy to drop you off at the busstation in Varmahlíð or at
Sauðárkrókur airport. You are of course also welcome to book
some additional nights.
